🌙New Sailor Moon Calendar, Models, and Merch Announced
There's a lot of Sailor Moon news to catch up on. Let's go!
Hey there!
How are you doing? Hope you’re having a great November.
Let’s dive right into the latest Sailor Moon news as there’s actually quite a lot to cover. Not bad for a 20+ year old franchise!
Sailor Moon Anime News
There’s been a bit of news for fans of both the 90s anime and the newer Sailor Moon Crystal reboot that’s worth sharing.
In a bit of a surprise move, the Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S, and Sailor Moon SuperS 90s Sailor Moon movies are now available to watch on YouTube for free in select regions. Note that these are the new English versions made by Viz so, if you want the original English or Japanese versions, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
Also, if you’re in Australia, don’t forget that you can watch the first three seasons of Sailor Moon Crystal in English for free via ABC iView.
There’s still no news on an English language Blu-ray or DVD release for the two Sailor Moon Eternal movies and it’s unclear if we’ll ever get one as Netflix may want to keep them on their streaming service. I’ll make sure to let you know if this changes though.
The Japanese Sailor Moon Eternal Blu-ray and DVD releases are still available.
Also in the no news news, there still hasn’t been any more news of a fifth entry in the Sailor Moon Crystal anime reboot following Sailor Moon Eternal. Personally, I think it’s only a matter of time until we get a new adaption of the Stars manga arc. Fingers crossed!
Some images from the cancelled and long-forgotten 90s Sailor V anime have surfaced. Well worth having a look at these to see what could have been.
Sailor Moon Manga News
The Sailor Moon manga continues to see reprints and re-releases both in Japan and internationally.
The Eternal Edition (3rd Gen) versions of Codename Sailor V Volume 1 and Volume 2 are both now available in the United States and are expected to release in Australia and other regions in early-2022. The local delays are likely due to the major import/export issues affecting the US and other countries and aren’t tied to Sailor Moon rights or anything like that. This completes the English language release of the Sailor Moon Eternal Edition manga series.
Up next is the Naoko Takeuchi Collection which is essentially just a smaller paperback release of the 3rd Gen Eternal Edition. It features all of the same content and translation of the Eternal Edition but is smaller and much cheaper. The first volume of the Sailor Moon Naoko Takeuchi Collection has been delayed several times (likely due to the above mentioned supply/shipping issues) and is now expected to release in April 2022.
Still no news on new volumes of the new 4th Gen full-colour digital-only Japanese release of the Sailor Moon manga beyond the first two volumes. Also no news yet on an English release. This likely won’t happen until the English release of the 3rd Gen Naoko Takeuchi Collection release finishes up in 2023 or even 2024.

Sailor Moon Musical News
There’s definitely some great news for fans of the Sailor Moon musicals that was announced this week.
Details on the online streaming of the Kaguya Hime's Beloved Sailor Moon musical have been announced. The musical, which is the latest Sailor Moon musical to be performed, will be available to stream online from the 10th of December to the 3rd of February via Japan 2.5D Stage Play World. The listing doesn’t make mention of subtitles but I’m pretty confident that the streams will offer English subtitles as they’ve done this previously.
The Nogizaka46 ver. 2019 Sailor Moon musical is also returning to the same website for streaming for the same time period. As with the Kaguya musical, the listing for these new streams make no mention of English subtitles but since the previous streams of the Nogizaka46 ver. 2019 had them, it’s safe to assume that this new batch will too.
Pre-orders for the official Kaguya Hime’s Beloved Blu-ray are now live. This release is region/zone free and contains a variety of extras. It’s set for release on the 19th of January 2022.

The Tamashii Nations S.H.Figuarts Eternal Sailor Moon figure has finally been revealed and it looks pretty awesome! No pre-orders live yet as it’s not due out until June 2022 but I’ll definitely post the links once they’re live.
The official Sailor Moon Stores in Japan are launching a variety of Christmas-themed Sailor Moon items next month ranging from a Sailor Moon Christmas mug to some festive candy.
Some Sailor Moon Christmas plushies are also coming to Sailor Moon Store locations next month.
Speaking of planning for the future, the official Sailor Moon calendar for 2022 has been revealed. Make sure to grab one here before they sell out.
The official Sailor Moon Moleskine journals have proven to be very popular with fans and continue to sell out. Thankfully, new stock’s coming in on a regular basis so you may still be able to buy the yellow, blue, and black ones online before New Years.
In Australia? Jay Jays has released another official Sailor Moon t-shirt. This one features Sailor Mini/Chibi Moon.
Jay Jays new pink Sailor Moon tee is also pretty cool.
Hot Topic has also added heaps of new Sailor Moon items recently. Among my personal faves are the Luna backpack, the chibi Sailor Guardian overalls, and this very cool shirt that actually looks like something you could wear to a variety of social events.
That’s about it for all of the big Sailor Moon news. I’ll be back next week with another recap.
Thanks again for subscribing and sharing and until next time, Sailor Moon Says! 🌙
